As a young girl fundraising for my school, a woman told me I was the most tenacious little girl she had ever met. I didn’t know what that meant but she bought what I was selling so I kept it up. I’ve learned over the years that being tenacious is not just about standing your ground it’s about finding common ground. It’s the willingness hang in there until the bitter end in order to find a solution. Being a Senator is not about fighting it’s about working. I am willing, capable and tenacious. I want to work for you.

What sets you apart from your opponent?

I’m not part of the political machine that raises massive amounts of money from corporations. My opponent is, to the tune of $414,750. She supports, and has even written some of the 650 loopholes in our tax code for big corporations. Meanwhile she raised our property taxes over 11% since 2010 and voted “NO” on lowering them this year. I believe big money in politics has eroded our political system so 73% of my money comes from people and NONE of it from corporations or corporate PACs. I will work for you not big business.

What is the biggest challenge your district is facing?

Many of the people in our district feel abandoned, unrepresented and unheard. Our current legislators play the blame game and want us all to somehow believe that even though the entire state is thriving, it’s not their fault that we’re dying on the vine. While it may not be their fault, it is their responsibility. The lack of leadership and ability to affect change has left us with more challenges than I can list. We have to break the cycle of high unemployment, low prosperity and desperation that permeates our district. We need leadership, we need a change.

It has been an incredible honor to be your voice for the last 10 years! Thank you for the overwhelming support you have shown me! I have a proven record of fighting for the heart and soul of Okanogan County, never giving up on your values and way of life. I have a level of experience and ability that allows me to be effective on your behalf, whether it’s protecting your access to water, your use of natural resources, access to healthcare providers, and fighting against burdensome agency rules and regulations that undermine the prosperity of our families and communities.

What sets you apart from your opponent?

My proven ability to build bi-partisan relationships in the House and Senate, to bring people together with different views to solve problems and challenge the status quo to get things done. My level of experience allows me to galvanize local, state and federal leaders to think outside of the box for solutions.

This job has always been about you; I work tirelessly to listen, to learn, be flexible and open to different ideas, but always staying used on your customs and values.

What is the biggest challenge your district is facing?

Access to family wage jobs and retention of existing jobs continue to be challenging, especially in our rural communities. Big city “us versus them” values, Inflexible rules and regulations, over-bearing agencies and incessant threats of appeal and litigation continue to impact your ability to productively use and manage natural resources, to provide affordable housing, and to manage wildlife and predators. I support Communities’ efforts to diversify their economies, but I will fiercely protect and work to expand our traditional industries.
