Fire destroys barn, tons of hay

Flames consume a horse trailer and barn at the Gary Wood residence on Pogue Road late Thursday.

OMAK — A Pogue Road barn and its contents were destroyed by fire late Thursday night.

The fire was reported at 11:42 p.m. in a barn owned by Gary Wood at 125 Pogue Road, Omak Fire Chief Kevin Bowling said.

Firefighters from Omak and Okanogan responded, along with LifeLine Ambulance.

The barn was destroyed, along with four or five tons of hay, a boat, horse trailer, riding lawnmower, all-terrain vehicle and several chickens, he said.

Some of the items were insured, Bowling said.

An estimated $25,000 damage was done. No other buildings were damaged.

Firefighters were on the scene until 12:35 a.m.
