OPINION: Consolidating public entities could be viable

Earlier this week I received a letter to the editor exploring the idea of consolidating two local school districts. After reading the letter I was quick to ask other Chronicle employees their take on the idea. Some said it would be a financial benefit. Others, however, said there’s no way it would work.

Good riddance. Carnivore Conservation Lab professor Robert Wielgus left Washington State University – and hopefully the woods and mountains of eastern Washington. Unfortunately, it’s costing us, the taxpayers, to get rid of him.

OPINION: Keeping a vigil eye on Okanogan River

Regardless of where you choose to live, there is always a natural risk factor. In the Midwest it’s tornados. Around Florida it’s hurricanes, and (just like on the news recently) it’s volcanoes in Hawaii.
