Last Eagle Track race is Aug. 18
By Brenda Starkey
Chronicle correspondent

The last Eagle Track race of the season will be held Saturday, Aug. 18, with Brian Whitney, who earned 71 points last race alone, leading the street stock points race by a big margin.
Four drivers are within 15 points of each other vying for second place in the street stock race. They are Glen Corfe, Greg Fisher, Rob Cochran and Darrin Metcalf.
The season championship in the three other divisions are still too close to call, with Ron Rampley atop in the modified class, John Alexander Jr. leading in bump to pass and Steve Hood ahead in fever four competition.
Alexander's position is the most tenuous with an 11-point spread between him and Bill Hallam.
In modified competition the top three contenders are separated by 67 points with Dan Stillings running second and Brian Head third.
In fever four racing, 35 points separate Hood from Ken Martin.
The season finale will feature not only car races on the three-eighths-mile dirt track, but also lawnmower and go-cart racing.
Racing lawnmowers from the Okanogan Valley will demonstrate their skills and young go-cart racers will run on the inside track Saturday.
The lawnmower exhibition will come the day before a scheduled meet Sunday, Aug. 7 in Concrete, that group's final event of the season.
The action will start at 3 p.m. at Eagle Track Raceway south of Republic on Pendry Road.
