Fall fishing derby planned near Curlew
The third annual fall youth fishing derby is planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Hamilton's Pond on Old West Curlew Lake Road, Curlew.
Parents are asked to accompany their children as observers and assistants. All participants must be accompanied by an adult, say organizers.
Registration starts at 10 a.m.; no license is required, according to the announcement.
Youngsters are asked to bring their own fishing gear. Food and drink concessions will be available.
Prizes will be awarded in various categories.
Washington State University Extension will offer a microscope observatory. Other activities include flying tying and fly fishing demonstrations, and information on wildlife from Ferry County Conservation District.
"Come tie a fly and learn how to cast a fly rod," the announcement continued.
The pond is at 20 Old West Curlew Lake Road. Those attending are advised to take Klondike Road and turn onto West Curlew Lake Road and then Trout Creek Road, then the first left off East Trout Creek Road.
More information is available at 775-0191.
