A passenger in a pickup that left Highway 153 March 1 suffered a severed ear and head laceration.
Susan C. Runyan, 50, Tacoma, was southbound around 11:45 p.m. about 4.15 miles north of Pateros when a deer ran onto the road. Runyan swerved to avoid the deer, causing her pickup to go off the road and onto the southbound shoulder.
The pickup rolled and came to rest on its top.
Susan Runyan was not injured.
The passenger - Douglas L. Runyan, 49, Tacoma – was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Both people were using seatbelts.
The pickup truck was destroyed.
