In celebration of an exceptional year, Washington State University Master Gardeners reported the following activities:
In 2007 the group provided 2,190 hours of volunteer service to the community through diagnostic clinics, farmers' market clinics, community educational classes, demonstration gardens, fair participation and special projects.
Working with the City of Okanogan, seniors from Okanogan High School and community donations, the Master Gardeners assisted in refurbishing six city entrance signs for the City Centennial and participated in the parade riding on a Master Gardeners float.
The Alice Culp rose garden in Omak received a major facelift with donations for memorial roses and county businesses donating materials. Appreciation goes to Tom Fancher, Jack and Elizabeth Williams, Greg and Lisa Loew, Art Sims and the City of Omak for their support.
This year a new Master Gardeners training class is ongoing in Tonasket with plans to expand programs and volunteer opportunities into the Methow Valley and the Chesaw/Oroville area.
