Okanogan County Transportation and Nutrition (OCTN) will offer a three-week series of cooking classes for people with diabetes and their family members or caretakers.
“Dining with Diabetes” will meet every Wednesday at 1-3 p.m. for three weeks beginning on Wednesday, April 9, at the Omak Senior Meal Site.
Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator Melissa Bardsley will discuss how to cook with artificial sweeteners, low-fat products, and herbs and spices.
Class participants will get recipe booklets, watch cooking demonstrations, and taste foods made with less fat, sugar and salt.
This program is funded through a grant from the Steps to a Healthier Washington. It is a collaborative effort with OCTN, Okanogan County Health District and the Washington Diabetes Prevention and Control Program.
The class is free to people with diabetes and family members or caretakers. No products will be sold at the classes.
Spaces are limited, so call Leanne Leifer at OCTN at (509) 826-4391 ext. 15 to enroll now.
