Crews from the Washington State Department of Transportation will begin clearing the North Cascades Highway 20 March 24 with the goal of opening May 1, according to a report from WSDOT.
The pass was originally closed Dec. 4, 2007. Crews trekked back up the pass March 12 and found the pass still buried in snow. More snow was expected last week, according to the report.
However, crews expect to have it clear in five weeks after starting, barring illness, weather delays or equipment breakdowns.
