OVOC announces auditions for 'Beauty and the Beast'
Okanogan Valley Orchestra & Chorus announced the Fall Community Musical, set for October 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, will be Walt Disney's "Beauty and the Beast." Auditions will be held Thursday and Friday, April 17-18 at 6 p.m. in the Omak High School Band room with call backs for lead positions set for Saturday, April 19 at the PAC.
Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" has a vast array of parts available for all ages 6 and older, ranging from the adult roles of the "Beauty" Belle and terrifying "Beast," to the villainous Gaston and all of the enchanted house wares. There are several chorus positions available for all ages - forks and spoons galore. There are also a few children's lead roles, such as Chip, Mrs. Potts (the teapot's) son.
Anyone interested in a lead role should come prepared to sing a song within their vocal range. Scripts are available for viewing at local libraries. Parents must accompany young children to review the guidelines for this musical.
The production staff includes Director Marile Kunkel, Orchestra Conductor Don Pierce, Choreographer Serena Fiacco, Producers Erin Attridge and Jessica Scogin, Stage Manager Cari Shiflett, Costume Mistress Susan Graves, Make-up Corina Radford and Technical Advisor Michael Self.
Anyone interested in participating in this production, from assisting in building sets, painting, hanging flyers or just helping where needed, should contact the producers. A show this size needs hundreds of volunteers in addition to the many actors and actresses, musicians and technical people, the announcement said.
"Make this a family event and join OVOC in presenting quality musical productions to our community," the announcement said.
For questions, to volunteer or to become a sponsor of the production, please call Erin Attridge at 826-4725 or Jessica Scogin at 422-0458.
