Tonasket Community Theater will hold auditions for "Animal Farm" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at the Community Cultural Center, Tonasket.
The play is an adaptation of George Orwell's novel about how a group of animals overthrow the humans who run the farm. The animals are certain they can do better and provide equal treatment for all, said director Sarah Kaiser.
Complications quickly arise, she added.
"This play will be very active as the actors will assume the characters of various barnyard animals as the story unfolds," she said. "There will be extensive use of masks and puppets, too."
About 14 people, ages 12-90, are needed for the show.
"We will also need a few younger children, ages 7-11, who would not need to attend all the rehearsals," she said.
The play will be presented as part of the Tonasket Garlic Festival Aug. 15-16.
"We will also present the play at few more times in early September at the Community Cultural Center," said Kaiser.
Those interested but who cannot attend the auditions or who need more information can contact Kaiser at sarahdrama@ncidata.com or 485-3483.
Community Cultural Center has promoted arts and culture in the north Okanogan since 1992, said Kaiser. The "Animal Farm" production is assisted by a grant from the Okanogan Family Faire, she added.
