U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-5th District, has filed to run for a third term representing eastern Washington in the U.S. Congress, according to an announcement from her campaign.
"Since the people of eastern Washington elected me to Congress in 2004, I've worked to make our communities better places to live, work and raise a family," McMorris Rodgers said.
"I hope to continue my work to develop a comprehensive energy policy, ensure access to quality and affordable health care, strengthen and expand the role of Fairchild Air Force Base and increase eastern Washington competitiveness by working to broaden educational opportunities in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics," she said.
"I got involved in the first place because I believe in the ideas and values of freedom, opportunity, personal responsibility, commitment to family, and a strong faith in God," she continued.
She founded the Down Syndrome Caucus, co-chairs the Women's Caucus and helped start the Community Pharmacy Caucus. She is a member of the High Tech Working Group, chaired a task force to reform the National Environmental Policy Act, and serves as ranking member on the water and power subcommittee of resources, according to her announcement.
