Parlette seeks re-election to Senate
WENATCHEE - Sen. Linda Evans Parlette, R-Wenatchee, is seeking re-election to the state Senate.
Parlette, who has served two terms in the Senate and two terms in the House of Representatives, said she is enthusiastic about the opportunities to continue working with communities in the 12th District, which includes all of Chelan and Douglas counties, and parts of Grant and Okanogan counties.
"Our region is experiencing a lot of growth and this brings change," she said. "As senator you have a unique opportunity to bring people together and build partnerships."
She said she's been working with community leaders "to bring resolutions to many of the challenges we all face. There is still more to do and I am excited about the possibilities.
Parlette's campaign slogan is "Building Partnerships: Building Communities."
Parlette has sponsored bills to increase the awareness of rural areas, transportation improvements, and health care policies.
She served as Senate deputy majority leader in 2004 and caucus chair in 2006. While continuing to serve as caucus chair, Parlette also sits on the ways and means, health and long-term care, financial institutions, and rules committees.
Parlette said her third term goals are to continue work on the Beebe Springs project, Stemilt partnership, Sen. George Sellar bridge and other transportation projects, and a variety of policy issues including tax relief and health care.
Parlette grew up in Chelan in the fourth generation from a pioneer family. She continues to work as a registered pharmacist at the Wenatchee Clinic Pharmacy and lives with her husband, Bob, on their cherry orchard.
Together they have five grown children and two grandchildren.
