Republic woman dies in accident in Spokane County
     A Ferry County woman died June 11 after the vehicle in which she was riding collided with another on Highway 395 just north of Halfmoon Road in Spokane County.
     Dead is Ellamae V. Rupp, 90, Republic, according to the Washington State Patrol.
     She was a passenger in a car driven by Alta Mae Pruitt, 56, Republic.
     According to the patrol report, Pruitt was northbound on Highway 395 when a third vehicle in front of Pruitt's vehicle turned into a gas station parking lot.
     At the same time, a pickup truck driven by Herman Leo Kemple, 70, Spokane pulled out of the gas sation to head southbound, according to the patrol report.
     Pruitt and Kemple's vehicles collided in the northbound lane.
     Kemple's vehicle flipped onto its side and Kemple was partially ejected and pinned underneath the vehicle, according to the patrol. He was airlifted by Medstar to Sacred Heart Hospital, Spokane.
     Both Pruitt and Rupp also were airlifted by Medstar to Sacred Heart, where Rupp died.
     Another passenger in Pruitt's vehicle, MyrnaL. Fowler, 66, Raymond, was taken by ambulance to Sacred Heart.
     All those in Pruitt's vehicle were using restraints, according to the patrol report. It's unknown if Kemple used a seat belt, the report continued.
     Both vehicles were destroyed.
