An Oroville man lost his life in a three-vehicle accident Monday afternoon, Aug. 18, just south of Pateros.
Phillip Wilson, 46 of Waterville, was northbound in his pickup on Highway 97 two miles south of Pateros when he drifted into the northbound lane around 1:30 p.m. according to a state patrol report.
Wilson's pickup struck a semi, driven by Ricky Hawk, 52, of Ellensburg, on the left rear tires of the semi's trailer, the report said.
Wilson's vehicle then continued northbound on the southbound lane and struck the third vehicle, a sedan driven by Thomas Teas, 62, of Oroville.
Teas, who was not wearing a restraint, suffered head and chest injuries, the report said. He was rushed to the Okanogan-Douglas Hospital, where he later died.
Wilson received multiple lacerations and suffered sore ankles, according to the report. He was taken to the Okanogan-Douglas Hospital.
Hawk suffered no reported injuries.
Both the pickup and sedan were totaled. The semi truck received $4,000 in damage, according to the report.
