A 15-acre fire in the Happy Hill area southeast of Conconully has led to closure of the Conconully Highway in the fire area, according to Okanogan County undersheriff Joe Somday.
Fire officials requested the closure, which runs from Hess Lake to Happy Hill.
The fire began about 1:30 p.m. Firefighters responded from Fire District No. 3 (Omak, Okanogan and Malott), Fire District No. 9 (rural Conconully) and Fire District No. 7 (Riverside).
State Department of Natural Resources planes also are working on the effort, according to Somday.
