Flutist, violinist will perform at Friends of Music concert
Two musicians on a statewide tour sponsored by the Seattle Ladies Musical Club will perform at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Omak Presbyterian Church.
Flutist Renee Baldridge, California, and violinist Jennifer Caine, Leavenworth, were two of four winners in the musical club’s annual competition to be featured in the 2008 Awards Tour.
They will perform Sept. 12 in Omak, Okanogan and Tonasket schools.
Admission to the concert, sponsored by Okanogan Friends of Music, is by donation. Family attendance is especially encouraged, say organizers.
Baldridge is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach, where she was awarded the Presser scholarship for outstanding academic and performing achievements.
She works for the Long Beach Unified School District and teaches privately. Since 2001, she has been a member of the Pacific Flute Ensemble, which has performed for the National Flute Assocation.
She will play music of Gaubert, Dutilleux, Colquhoun and Harty. Her. Accompanist is Sandra Bleiweiss.
Caine is violinist in the Icicle Creek Piano Trio and resident violinist for the Icicle Creek Music Center, Leavenworth.
In the Seattle area, she has performed with the odeonquartet, Seattle Chamber Players, Sanssouci Chamber Ensemble and Seattle Symphony. She regularly appears on the Simple Measures and Second City chamber music series.
Caine is a graduate of Harvard University, where she studied music and Slavic languages and literature, and holds master’s degrees from the Royal College of Music and Oxford University.
Her teachers and coaches have included Grigori Zhislin, Zinaida Gilels, Olga Yanovich, Robert Lipsett, Elisabeth Adkins, Robert Levin, and Daniel Stepner.
She will play the music of Beethoven and Debussy. Her accompanist is Oksana Ezhokina.
The audience is invited to meet the musicians at a reception following the concert, according to the announcement.
