Okanogan County sheriff’s Sgt. Gene Davis, while investigating several burglaries, nabbed two men in the process of stealing tires at a home near Brewster Sept. 27, said sheriff Frank Rogers.
At the time, Davis had a suspect in the burglary investigations in the car with him, showing him places that had been burglarized, Rogers said.
“As they were pulling into a residence off of North Star Road, Sgt. Davis observed two subjects in the process of stealing tires from another residence,” the sheriff said. “Sgt. Davis pulled into the residence and contacted the subjects. Deputy (Gisberth) Gonzalez arrived at the scene to assist in the investigation.”
Two Brewster men, ages 22 and 27, were arrested around 2 p.m. They were taken to the county jail and booked on suspicion of second-degree theft.
“Excellent job by Sgt. Davis, to be in the middle of one investigation and to have the heads up to know he was observing a separate crime and to make the arrests,” said Rogers.
