A Riverside man escaped injury in an accident that sent the driver of a pickup truck to the hospital Nov. 5 about 10 miles north of Wenatchee on Highway 97A.
Heidi J. Soehren, 52, Chelan, was northbound around 2:15 p.m. when she slowed for another vehicle that stopped for a mountain sheep crossing the highway, according to a Washington State Patrol report.
Lamont R. Lind, 51, was northbound behind Soehren and driving a semi-tractor with an empty flatbed trailer.
Lind's semi-truck struck and Soehren's vehicle collided; Soehren’s vehicle went off the road to the right and came to rest in a ditch, according to the patrol report.
Lind's semi jackknifed and came to rest in the southbound lane.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
Soehren suffered neck, back and chest injuries. She was taken by ambulance to Central Washington Hospital, Wenatchee.
The semi received about $5,000 damage and Soehren's vehicle received about $15,000 damage, the report continued.
