Lampe holds lead over Campbell for county commissioner
     Incumbent Okanogan County commissioner Andy Lampe holds a nearly 12-percentage-point lead over challenger Larry Campbell as of the second count of ballots from the Nov. 4 general election.
     Lampe received 6,051 votes, or 55.15 percent, compared to Campbell's 4,754 votes, or 43.42 percent, according to the Okanogan County auditor's office.
     The first count, done election night, included ballots that had been returned to the auditor's office by Oct. 30. The second count was done Nov. 7 and included additional ballots returned in the all-mail election.
     Both Lampe and Campbell are Republicans. There were an additional 156 write-in votes.
     In the 7th District House race between Shelly Short and Sue Lani Madsen, both Republicans, Short leads in Okanogan County voting, 4,370-1,069. She also leads district-wide, 57.07 percent to 42.93 percent, according to the Washington secretary of state's office.
     In the 12th District, Rep. Mike Armstrong, R-Wenatchee, out-polled challenger Courtney Cox 2,467-2,108 among Okanogan County voters. He also leads Cox district-wide, 56.28 percent to 43.72 percent, according to unofficial returns.
     Okanogan rancher Peter J. Goldmark leads incumbent lands commissioner Doug Sutherland in Okanogan County, 6,572-6,398, and also statewide 50.57 percent to 49.43 percent.
     U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers holds a nearly two-to-one lead over challenger Mark Mays in Okanogan County, 8,73-4,423, and also is ahead of Mays in the 5th District as a whole, 65.05 percent to 34.95 percent.
     Okanogan County voters picked Republican Dino Rossi over incumbent Democrat Christine Gregoire for governor, 7,995-5,372, but Gregoire leads Rossi statewide, 53.41 percent to 46.59 percent.
     County voters picked Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin for president and vice president over Democrats Barack Obama and Joe Biden, 6,942-6,163. The nation as a whole went for the Obama/Biden ticket, as did the state.
