Okanogan County Superior Court Judge Jack Burchard swore in six new volunteers to the Okanogan County Court-Appointed Special Advocates program Oct. 28, according to an announcement from the Okanogan County Juvenile Court Services and Corrections Center.
Duane Jacoby, Charlotte Myxter, Mary K. Sundby, Diane Robinson, Candace Tanner and Kristine Gaffney were sworn in.
The additions bring the number of CASA volunteers to 11. According to the announcement, the program was established in 1998 and represented 65 children in the last year in juvenile dependency court proceedings.
A CASA volunteer advocates for the child's best interest and follows the child's case throughout the court system make sure the child's voice is heard, the announcement continued.
