Smith needs fan support for shot at Nashville dreams
Scott Smith is still after that Country music career, but needs his support base to help him through the last couple rounds of a big competition.
Smith had competed in the CMT.com's Music City Madness, but lost out in round one due to a large fan base for his competition, he said.
However, he's made it to the top ten in the FameCast Finals online, after submitting his music video "Caving In" and beating out about 25,000 other entries to reach this far, according to his sister and manager Jill Scott.
Smith won the October monthly Country competition, and now competes against other monthly winners from six song style categories for the title of FameCast Fenom for the Fall season of the competition. The top ten round ends Friday, Nov. 14, and if Smith advances, he will be in the top five.
All he needs are votes. Those signed up for FameCast can vote once per day for their choice, according to the Web site.
Scott said that Smith is up against one band in particular that has a fan base of about 10,000. "So, our work is cut out for us," she said, "but certainly attainable - together we can move him to the final round."
The top five round ends Nov. 21, with the revelation of the Fenom (winner) Nov. 22.
The Fenom gets $20,000 and becomes the feature of SPIN magazine, plus multiple performance gigs will be made available to them, the Web site says.
To vote, get more information or check out Smith's entry, the FameCast Finals can be viewed at www.famecast.com.
More information on Scott Smith can be found at www.scottsmithcountry.com.
"Lets get our hometown boy, Scott Smith, signed, sealed and delivered to Nashville!" Scott said.
