OMAK – A scratch-off-the-amount fund-raiser to buy playground equipment for East Omak Elementary School will end Friday, March 27.
Donors can scratch off one or more squares on a fund-raiser card to find out how much they’ll give – from 50 cents to $3 per square – to the fund, teacher Camille Sproule said.
People also can give donations in any amount, she added.
Students and teachers are trying to raise $15,000-$20,000 to replace 21-year-old wooden playground equipment that’s become splintery and is falling apart, she said. A metal set, similar to one in Conconully State Park, is being considered.
Anyone not contacted by a student can scratch a card at the school, she said.
While the scratch card fund-raiser ends Friday, additional donations still are sought. About $6,400 has been raised so far.
Service club, business and individual donations also have been made, Sproule said.
