Republic teacher dies in boating accident

     REPUBLIC - A Republic High School teacher, Dan Walling, died April 3 in a boating accident on Lake Roosevelt.
     Another teacher, Ted Torzewski, is in critical condition in a Spokane hospital, according to an announcement from the district.
     "As a district, we have the crisis response team from (Educational Service District 101) coming in to assist students and staff during this tragic time," the announcement said.
     A remembrance wall will be established at the school for students, staff and community.
     "All who knew him will miss Mr. Walling," the announcement continued. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to both families and their friends."
