Easter brings special worship services

     OMAK - Many churches and multi-church groups will hold special services during the week, leading up to Easter Sunday.
     Services reported are:

Brewster
     A sunrise service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church members Red and Margaret Reynold's residence, 78 Lakeview Way, at 6:30 a.m. April 12. Music and a message will be followed by a breakfast.

Loomis

     Loomis Communnity Church invites people to a “Meet Us at The Cross” for a sunrise service at 7 a.m. Sunday, April 12. The service will be two miles up Horse Spring Coulee Road at the west end of Spectacle Lake.
     A breakfast is planned at 8 a.m. at the church, followed by Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. and a resurrection service at 11 during the regular worship.

Okanogan
     A "Sonrise" service will be at 6:30 a.m. April 12, at Omak Memorial Cemetery, behind Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 2511 Elmway.
     The half-hour interdenominational service will include music, a message and a short drama. Mike McCune, Cornerstone Christian Fellowship associate pastor, will give the message.
     Musicians will be Don and Lyn Pearce of Abundant Life Fellowship, the Rev. Chris Warren, Okanogan Presbyterian, Kathleen Christensen of New Life Centre and Gwyn Kopp, Omak First Baptist.
     Other participants are the Rev. Ken Petersen, Omak Presbyterian; the Rev. John Richards and Sheila Corson, Omak First Baptist; Dani Jeffreys, Abundant Life Fellowship, and Mike Christensen, New Life Centre.
     The annual event is sponsored by Christians In Action, caretaker of the Sonshine Cross on Shellrock Point and the KMBI 103.9FM translator.

Omak
     Holy Week at First Presbyterian Church, 9 S. Birch St., will include the following services:
     - Maundy Thursday at 7 p.m. will include a reflective time, meditating on the Scriptures given on this night. The Lord's Supper will be observed and the Westminster Bell Choir will play.
     - From noon to 3 p.m. on Good Friday, the church sanctuary will be set aside for prayer, which is during the traditional hours Jesus hung dying on the cross.
     - The Easter Sunday Service at 10:45 a.m. will include special music from the Westminster Bell Choir, the Men's Quartet and others.
     Maundy Thursday will be observed at 7 p.m. April 9 at Omak First Baptist Church, 620 W. Ridge Drive. The church will hold a communion service with music and a message.
     St. Mary's Mission will hold several services over Holy Week.
     Mass will be held April 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church in east Omak.
     An Easter vigil will be held at 8 p.m. April 11 at St. Mary's Mission, Omak Lake Road.
     Easter Sunday Mass will be at 11 a.m. at the mission.

Oroville
     Half a dozen churches will take part in a sunrise service at 7 a.m. April 12 at Riverside Park. Music and a short message will be held.

Pateros
     The Pateros Community Methodist Church will have a Good Friday service, sunrise service and Easter egg hunt.
     The Good Friday service will be at 7 p.m. April 10.
     The sunrise service at the Pateros graveyard will be at 7 a.m. April 12, followed by a breakfast at the church. The resurrection service will be at 9 a.m.
     Following the service, the church will hold an Easter egg hunt at about 10:15 a.m.

Tonasket
     A Good Friday service will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 10 at the Tonasket Free Methodist Church, 1 Stanton Loop Road. The service will include music and a message.

Twisp
     Calvary Baptist Church will host a Good Friday service April 10 as part of a combined effort with Friendship Community Church, Winthrop.
     The service at 1119 N. Methow Valley Highway will be at 7 p.m. and will include music, a message and refreshments afterward.
     A sunrise service will be held at the Twisp commons at 7 a.m. April 12, a multi-church service, with music and a message.
