NESPELEM - A dinner, games and concert night will be May 22.
The spaghetti dinner starts at 6 p.m. at the Nespelem Community Center and a concert with Noon Day Sun starts at 7 p.m.
The night is a collaboration of several groups, the Rev. Bob Twitchell said. He and wife, Mina, are based in the Tonasket area with American Missionary Fellowship, but have been working with schools and other groups in the Nespelem area for years.
Twitchell said when he introduced himself to new Nespelem Community Center Director Dan Nanamkin, the two started talking about possible events.
The first project was repainting the center, then they decided to build a stage. Twitchell said he asked around, and Highlander Electric Co. owner Wesley Sherrer offered to do the work for free.
A volunteer crew constructed the stage last week.
Noon Day Sun, a Christian rock/pop group, recently signed with Seven17 records and soon will release its first album, "So Called Life."
Tribal drummers will play during the event, Nanamkin said.
The food comes thanks to the Late Night Friday program, which has been serving food and providing games on Friday nights, Twitchell said.
The People Helping People in Okanogan County program also sponsored the event.
The main thing is to bring people together to have a positive place for families and children, Twitchell said. Organizers said they hope to turn the first venture into a regular event.
Dinner and admission are free. A concessions stand will be open, Twitchell said.
