WINTHROP - An organic animal husbandry farm walk will be from 12:30-4 p.m. Monday, June 8, at Crown S Ranch, 1 Twin Lakes Road, Winthrop.
The cost to attend is $15 for the general public and $10 for members of Tilth Producers of Washington.
Crown S Ranch is a 120-acre, pasture-based organic farm owned and operated by the Sukovaty-Argraves family.
Farm Walk participants will discuss techniques for integrating their cows, pigs, turkeys, chickens and lambs using management-intensive pasture rotations, a Tilth announcement said.
"Come see their solar powered chicken train, a large, floorless mesh enclosure that moves slowly over the pasture," the announcement said. "Learn about nutrient recycling to minimize off-farm inputs - a closed farming system, on-farm organic hay, grain and feed production, and meat processing."
The event is sponsored by Tilth Producers of Washington and the Washington State University Small Farms Team.
