CHELAN - Two people from Vancouver, B.C., were killed and two others seriously injured following a two-vehicle collision June 8 about 12 miles south of Chelan.
Gerardo Torres, 19, Omaha, Neb., was northbound on U.S. Highway 97A when he allegedly went over the centerline around 7:10 p.m., a Washington State Patrol accident memo said.
Torres’ vehicle struck the front of a vehicle driven by Mohamah K. Abood, 50.
Torres’ vehicle came to rest in the center of the southbound lane. Abood's vehicle came to rest facing north on the southbound shoulder.
Abood and a passenger, Fatme M. Al Massri, 35, were both transported by ambulance to Central Washington Hospital, Wenatchee, where they died.
Another passenger, Ali Abood, 5, was transported to Central Washington Hospital and then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center, Seattle.
Torres was transported to Central Washington Hospital.
Both vehicles were destroyed and impounded by the Washington State Patrol.
The accident remains under investigation.
