Tonasket girl wins national Youth Achievement Award
By Sheila Corson
Chronicle staff
TONASKET - Bailey Griffin, 10, has been named this year's Youth Achievement Award recipient in the Kellogg's Frosted Flakes national Earn Your Stripes competition.
Griffin's family heard the news June 16, and will find out in the next few weeks the itinerary for their trip to the Los Angeles ESPY awards breakfast.
Three other children from across the nation were in the final round with one-minute videos online. Griffin received the most votes for her video about her participation in Girls on the Run.
"Bailey was nominated by GOTR and selected as a finalist because she is truly an amazing kid who embodies the Frosted Flakes Earn Your Stripes lifestyle of eating right and working hard to overcome challenges, achieve goals and be their very best," the Kellogg's congratulations letter said.
Griffin will receive her award at the ESPY breakfast in mid-July. She can take two adults with her on the trip, the letter said. On-site guides will make sure they get where they need to go while in Los Angeles.
Griffin is the daughter of Eric and Julianna Griffin.
