MOLSON - The Molson Midsummer Festival will be Saturday, June 20.
While visiting Sweden, Joyce Forthun said she experienced the Swedish tradition of celebrating the longest day of summer.
She brought back the idea of the celebration and her family gathered each year. The list of family members and guests grew so large that most of the Molson population hosts the public event.
The community of 39 will swell for the 14th annual festival.
Molson Grange Hall will host an arts and crafts show, door prizes every half hour and live music throughout the day. The Molson School Museum will be the hub of many activities.
A walk/run starts at 8 a.m. An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be served at the Molson Grange Hall and a classic car, truck and tractor display is planned.
Leading the 10:30 a.m. parade will be grand marshal Kay Sherling Sutton Tracy. Decorating of a Maypole follows, as do kids games, a horseshoe tournament and scavenger hunt. Lunch will be served by the Sitzmark Ski Club.
Afternoon activities include the Ed Forthun Memorial Frisbee Golf Tournament from 12:30-3:3 p.m., Survivor Challenge at 1 p.m. and community softball and volleyball games.
