PESHASTIN - A four-vehicle collision injured six people about two miles south of Peshastin on U.S. Highway 97 on June 28.
All vehicles were northbound around 12:21 p.m. when vehicle No. 4 slowed to turn left onto Campbell Road.
Vehicle No. 3, which was following the turning vehicle, attempted to avoid being struck from behind by vehicle No. 2 by driving onto the shoulder, the Washington State Patrol said. Vehicle No. 2 struck vehicle No. 3.
Vehicle No. 1 then struck the rear of vehicle No. 2 and then vehicle No. 4, the patrol said.
Vehicle No. 1 was driven by Susan R. Ewalt, 60, Oroville. Ewalt, who suffered an injured right leg and wrist, was transported to Cascade Medical Center in Leavenworth. Her vehicle was destroyed.
Vehicle No. 2 was driven by Joyce Irene Kuespert, 62, Seattle. Kuespert, who suffered knee injuries, was transported to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. Her vehicle received about $10,000 damage.
Vehicle No.3 was driven by Charles L. Layman, 60, Wenatchee. He suffered a sore neck but was not taken to a hospital. He drove his vehicle from the scene.
The fourth vehicle was driven by Brian C. Messer, 44, Yakima. He suffered a sore neck but was not taken to a hospital. He drove his vehicle from the scene.
Others involved included:
- Joseph L. Parris, 48, Seattle, who was in vehicle No. 2. He suffered a sore neck and was transported to Central Washington Hospital, Wenatchee.
- Candace Layman, 59, Wenatchee, who was in vehicle No. 3. She suffered a sore back but was not taken to a hospital.
- Kristi M. Messer, 43, Yakima, who was in vehicle No. 4, suffered a sore neck and back. She was transported to Cascade Medical Center, Leavenworth.
- Three passengers in vehicle No. 4 were not injured. They were Grayson F. Messer, 9; Jace C. Messer, 14, and Halle J. Messer, 12. All are from Yakima.
