Highway reopens after brush fire

     OKANOGAN – U.S. Highway 97, which was closed Tuesday evening, Sept. 1, because of a brush fire, has reopened.
     The highway was closed from 4:30-11:35 p.m. from milepost 278 to milepost 286, the state Department of Transportation said.
     Traffic was detoured onto Old Highway 97 between Okanogan and Malott.
     Firefighters from Okanogan, Malott, Omak, Fire District No. 8 and the Bureau of Indian Affairs fought the blaze.
