TONASKET – The body of a man found in the Okanogan River near Tonasket Sept. 20 has been identified as that of Ronald S. Johnson, Wauconda.
Johnson, 48, was reported missing Sept. 16 by friends who had not seen him for a few days, Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said.
An autopsy was performed Sept. 22 and showed Johnson died of asphyxiation and drowning, Rogers said.
“At this time we have found nothing to indicate foul play, but detectives are continuing to interview people and try to determine what happened with Johnson,” he said.
Johnson was last seen Sept. 14 when he went into the Tonasket Police Department and wanted himself checked for arrest warrants; Johnson had none. Johnson According to Tonasket Police, Johnson was acting strangely that day, Rogers said.
