OKANOGAN - Kim Evans was named leader of the year at the annual meeting of the Okanogan County 4-H Leaders Council.
     For nine years, she has served as organizational leader for the Valley Venturers 4-H Club of the Brewster, Pateros and Bridgeport area.
     She chairs the county-wide record book committee, Livestock Education Day committee and is active in the 4-H Summer Camp Planning Committee, a 4-H announcement said.
     Her club hosts a county-wide recycling workshop, a farm and tractor safety clinic for farm families and workers and received the Colgate award for the "Quilts for Soldiers" project.
     At the annual 4-H Natural Resource Summer Camp, Evans is a workshop presenter, kitchen helper and dorm mom, and helps with camper check-in.
     She will be honored at the state 4-H Leader Forum volunteer recognition banquet Oct. 16-18.
