NESPELEM – Two community meetings to discuss the arson problem on the Colville Indian Reservation are planned for Oct. 6-7.
Meetings are planned for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Nespelem Longhouse, and 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the Omak Community Center.
“Residents are encouraged to attend to find out how they can help authorities catch the arsonist and be eligible for the reward of up to $10,000 from the WeTip program,” according to an announcement from the Mount Tolman Fire Center.
The Colville Confederated Tribes also is offering a reward of up to $90,000.
Fire prevention specialists will give an update on the recent arson fires and discuss ways to protect property from fire and how to prepare for evacuations in case of fire, the announcement said.
