Snowy crashes injure six
PATEROS - Six people were injured in three separate crashes on freshly fallen snow the evening of Dec. 5.
The first crash, at 6:35 p.m., was 6.9 miles northwest of Pateros on state Highway 153, the Washington State Patrol said.
Jonathan M. McMinn-Vollmer, 34, Wenatchee, was northbound when his car went off the road's left side on a corner and overturned, coming to rest on the passenger side. The vehicle received about $4,000 damage.
McMinn-Vollmer was not hurt, but a passenger, Stephanie N. Juhl, 34, Seattle, received a store neck. She was taken to Okanogan-Douglas District Hospital by aid car.
     Both occupants wore seatbelts.
The second crash occurred about 7:58 p.m. on U.S. Highway 97 about two miles south of Pateros, the patrol said.
Jubencio Sandoval-Hernandez, 36, Bridgeport, received a head laceration when his northbound pickup truck went off the highway and overturned. Sandoval-Hernandez was attempting to pass another vehicle at the time.
He was taken by aid car to the Brewster hospital.
A passenger, Andrea Sandoval-Flores, 12, Bridgeport, received a cut left knee and a sore right knee, the patrol said. She was treated at the scene.
A second passenger, Elvia Foria-Chavez, 32, Bridgeport, received a cut left hand. She was not transported.
     All three wore seatbelts.
     The pickup truck was destroyed.
Two other people were injured in a crash about 6:34 p.m. on U.S. Highway 97A about .8 mile north of Entiat in Chelan County.
Darlene D. Juarez, 46, Wenatchee, was northbound when her SUV skidded on snow and ice on a corner, the patrol said. The vehicle rolled across railroad tracks and came to rest on its wheels facing east.
She was transported to Central Washington Hospital, Wenatchee, for treatment of neck and back pain.
A passenger, Mark S. Juarez, 43, Wenatchee, received scrapes to the hands and also was taken to Central Washington Hospital.
     The vehicle was destroyed.
