PATEROS - The new Pateros Motel isn't finished yet, but it's already supplied a
slight revenue boost for the city.
Clerk-treasurer Linda Marsh said building and planning permit fees increased by
about $7,000 in 2009, to $19,325.45. Revenue from the same sources in 2008 was
$12,010.55. Most of that increase was because of permits needed for the motel's
construction and the Super Stop expansion, Marsh said.
In other business Dec. 28, the city council approved a five-year contract with
Douglas-Okanogan Fire District No. 15 for emergency medical services.
The contract was supposed to run concurrently with the six-year EMS levy, but
previous city and fire district officials agreed to a seven-year deal, which would've
expired on Dec. 31. The new contract will expire in 2014.
Council members approved the city's budget at an earlier meeting.
