OLYMPIA - The state has approved chip sealing U.S. Highway 97 from Okanogan to Riverside.
Sen. Bob Morton, R-Kettle Falls, said the project will cost an estimated $1.4 million.
Lower construction bids on previously approved statewide road projects have generated enough savings for the state to complete seven more. The stretch through Omak is one of three chip seal projects on U.S. Highway 97.
The other two are Orondo northward and Pateros southward.
