WENATCHEE - The deadline is Feb. 5 for submissions to the annual Write on the River non-fiction and fiction writing competition.
Write on the River is a non-profit writers' organization for North Central Washington. This is the third year ALCOA has sponsored the contest, with cash prizes for winners in both categories, the organization announced.
Writers may submit an essay, article, memoir, observation or other non-fiction prose piece on any theme for the non-fiction category, and a short story with any subject, topic or theme for the fiction category.
Each category has a 1,000-word limit.
Entry forms are at www.writeontheriver.org.
The fee is $15 for each entry or $40 per entry with a judge's critique. Writers may enter as many pieces as they wish in both categories, but can win only one prize per category, organizers said.
More information is available at www.writeontheriver.org or info@writeontheriver.org.
