SPOKANE - The Liberty Bell girls basketball team will be playing for a state trophy after advancing with a 55-51 win over Wahkiakum on March 5 in the Spokane Veteran's Memorial Arena.
The Mountain Lions (17-6) will take on Reardan (19-4) at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, March 6, for fourth- and seventh-place.
The game follows the game for fifth- and eighth-place between Entiat (17-6) and Tacoma Baptist (23-5) at noon.
Against Wahkiakum, Liberty Bell moved in front by as much as xxx only to see Wahkiakum close the gap, including to three points with under a minute to go.
Shelby Scott, the team's leading scorer at nearly 17 points per game, was held to two points in the first three quarters.
But in the fourth quarter she came through in the clutch by making 7-of-7 free throws and the Mountain Lions as a team made 10-of-12 free throws to sew up the loser-out victory.
