OMAK - Curtis Cassidy, Donalda, Alberta, took home the all-around cowboy title following four days of competition Aug. 12-15 in the 77th annual Omak Stampede rodeo.
Cassidy, who competed in tie-down roping and steer wrestling, collected $4,309, Columbia River Circuit Secretary Edie Longfellow said.
In the World-Famous Suicide Race, Taz and jockey Loren Marchand brought home a third straight overall title to owner Jim Phillips.
In the last three years, Taz has won 10 of 12 races and placed second in the other two.
Sunday victory was not easy, as Patch and Edward Marchand led over the top of the hill and into the Okanogan River. Taz then caught up to Patch on the upriver side before passing on the turn to the ramp into the Stampede Arena.
The final bull riding standings showed county riders cashing in for first and third.
Sev Carden's 88-point ride from Saturday night held up. He collected $3,819.
Aaron Hammer, Twisp, won $1,782.20 on Red Heat and tied for third with a score of 82.
Clint Johnson of Baker City, Ore., finished third in the final standings. He also rode Red Heat to win $2,927.90.
In barrel racing, Kelli Tolbert, Hooper, Utah, barely held on for first with a 16.68 second run that won $2,658.10.
Jana Isaac, White Swan, finished second in 16.69 to win $2,259.38.
A.J. St. Goddard, Big Spring, Texas, won the bareback title with a ride of 82 points.
Samuel Kelts, Millarville, Alberta, won the saddle bronc with an 84-point ride.
In steer wrestling, Casey McMillan produced a 3.7 second run in the second go-round and claimed the average as well at 8.4 seconds.
In calf roping, Josh Peek won the second go with an 8.1-second run.
Cody Ohl of Hico, Texas, who tied for second in the first go and tied for sixth in the second go, took the average at 17.5 seconds.
In team roping, Colby Siddoway and Justin Davis won the second go-round at 3.9 seconds.
Keven Daniel and Caleb Twisselman took the average at 9.6 seconds.
Complete winners and rodeo photos will be included in this week's print Chronicle.
