LEAHY JUNCTION – Highways 17 and 172 in the Leahy Junction-Mansfield area have been reopened.
Both were closed Aug. 26 because of high winds, blowing dust and zero visibility.
Highway 17 was closed from milepost 98.3 west of Coulee City to milepost 119.69 at Leahy Junction.
Highway 172 was closed from milepost 0 to milepost 35, from the junction with U.S. Highway 2 north and east to Mansfield and then east to the junction with Highway 17.
Conditions have improved, the state Department of Transportation said.
Other highways across eastern Washington were closed Aug. 26 because of blowing dust or smoke from wind-driven wildfires. Fires burned in the Davenport and Harrington areas, closing U.S. Highway 2 for a time.
