BRIDGEPORT -President Obama could be the guest speaker at the High School's graduation.
Bridgeport is one of two West Coast schools named as six finalists in the U.S. Department of Education "Commencement Challenge."
The other finalists are Wayne Early Middle College High School, Goldsboro, N.C.; Booker T. Washington High School, Memphis, Tenn.; Science Park High School, Newark, N.J.; High Technical Institute, San Diego, Calif., and Pittsburgh CAPA 6-12 for Creative and Performing Arts, Pittsburgh, Pa.
The challenge is designed to showcase schools that are making progress in meeting education goals, the White House website said.
"My head is spinning," Bridgeport Principal Tami Jackson said on the video accompanying the announcement.
