OMAK – A winter weather advisory is in effect for Okanogan and Ferry counties until 1 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25.
According to the advisory, the National Weather Service is predicting snow and freezing rain.
The wintry weather is expected to start early this afternoon, with 1-3 inches of snow likely to accumulate.
Freezing rain is predicted to follow, putting a thin glazing on top of snow along U.S. Highway 97 from Brewster to Oroville, and along state Highway 155 east of Nespelem.
Freezing rain is also forecast along state Highway 20 from Wauconda east to at least Spokane.
Motorists can expect slick driving conditions late in the evening and overnight, the advisory said, noting visibility may also be limited.
