Elmer City fire closes highway; fire is near homes

The Chronicle

     ELMER CITY - State Highway 155 is closed due to a fast-growing wildfire at Peter Dan Road.
     The fire began about 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14.
     The highway was closed Wednesday morning; a reopening time has yet to be announced.
     Fire crews on scene include Elmer City, Douglas County, Grand Coulee and the Colville tribe.
     Flames are reportedly threatening some structures and authorities are preparing to order evacuations if the fire nears homes.
