NESPELEM - Two bone marrow registry drives have been added to one planned today, Sept. 6, at the Nespelem Community Center, 5 School Loop Road.
The drives are to try and find a match for Coulee Dam resident Jezelle Elizabeth Marconi, daughter of Randi Pakootas and Urisha "Ookie" Marconi. The 6-year-old has aplastic anemia, a blood disorder in which bone marrow stops making enough new blood cells.
In addition to today's Be the Match Marrow Registry drive, planned for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Nespelem, drives have been added from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the Inchelium Community Center, 39 Shortcut Road, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Omak Community Center, 601 Benton St.
Organizers say the most likely match is someone who shares her American Indian and Italian heritage.
