TONASKET – KREM TV will be here Friday night to televise the Okanogan at Tonasket high school football game.
The 7 p.m. game received more than 60 percent of the votes necessary for the TV broadcast, beating out the Potlatch at Lakeside game.
Prior to the game, TV weatherman Tom Sherry will hold a tailgate party at the game after more than 10,000 people voted for the game between Monday and Wednesday.
The Tonasket cheerleaders will have a barbecue dinner starting at 5 p.m. with hamburgers, hotdogs, salad and beverage.
The cost is $5 for adults and $4 for students with an Associated Student Body card.
“Tom will broadcast his weather from the game during the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts,” Okanogan Athletic Director Steve Chamberlin said. “He’ll also present the winning schools with checks for $222 (each)."
"The primary focus will be on the Tonasket and Okanogan cheerleaders, football players and Tonasket band with other kids in the background," Tonasket Athletic Director Kevin Terris said. "I recommend that the cheer squads, high school students and football players be at the site no later than 4:30 p.m. for the 5 p.m. forecast."
Gates open to the game at 6 p.m.
"This should be a great evening for both Tonasket and Okanogan communities," Terris said. "Hope to see you all there."
“Congrats Okanogan High School (2-1 overall, 1-0 league) and Tonasket High School (3-0, 1-0)," Chamberlin said. "Thanks for voting.”
