OMAK - Fire officials say 54 homes are now threatened in the St. Mary's Mission Road Fire, with a majority of those in the Haley Creek and French Valley areas.
“The southeast corner expanded a little bit last night,” fire command spokeswoman Janet Pearce said. “But the good news is that the northwest corner did not expand.”
Homes in French Valley were issued a Level 3 evacuation notice, officials said, while a Level 2 notice went to Haley Creek residents.
Level 3 means the fire is imminent, while Level 2 is a suggestion to pack important belongings and be prepared to leave.
Residents along North Omak Lake Road and in the St. Mary’s Mission area also remain on a Level 3 notice.
Containment of the 9,655-acre fire was listed at 15 percent Friday morning, officials said, and more than 460 firefighters were on scene.
Level 1 evacuation notices remain at Kartar Valley and Timentwa Flat, officials said.
