Kodiaks tame Tonasket
TONASKET – The Cascade Kodiaks spoiled the Tigers’ homecoming with a 56-7 win Oct. 5 in Caribou Trail League action.
Tonasket scored their lone touchdown on a 35-yard run by Michael Orozco (14-69) early in the first quarter.
Cascade tied the game, 7-7, then exploded for three touchdowns in the second quarter for a 28-7 halftime lead.
The Kodiaks added four more touchdowns in the third to put the game out of reach.
Other Tonasket rushers included Austin Booker at 8-27, Jesse Manring at 2-19 and Collin Aitcheson at 5-25.
Tiger receivers included Derek Sund going 1-14, Orozco with 1-10 and Roberto Juarez at 1-1.
Terris completed 3-of-5 passes for 15 yards.
Cascade finished with over 500 yards offensively – 399 yards were rushing.
Tonasket (3-3, 1-3 in league) will play on the road at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 at Quincy (3-3, 3-1) in CTL play.
Cusick routs Republic
CUSICK – No. 3 Cusick proved why they are one of the best teams in the state with a 70-20 win over the Republic Tigers in Northeast League 1B action Oct. 5.
Cusick’s Ryan Sample threw for 332 yards and four touchdowns and added a pair on the ground.
Cusick took a 48-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Republic’s Prestin Hooper threw 60 yards to John Koffel for a score.
Hooper also hooked up for a 36-yard passing score to Angelo Rivera.
The Tigers closed out their scoring on a 27-yard pass from Aaron Fritts to Rivera in the fourth quarter.
Republic (3-2, 2-2 league) plays Soap Lake (1-5, 1-3) on the road Oct. 12 in a non-league game.
Concrete paves over Mustangs
CONCRETE – The road proved fatal for Bridgeport football players Friday night.
Concrete came down hard in beating the Mustangs, 56-13, in a non-league game.
Bridgeport (0-6, 0-2 league) is on the road against league-leading Kittitas (3-2, 3-0) on Friday, Oct. 12.
Selkirk blanks Cougs
SELKIRK – The Curlew Cougars dropped to 0-6 as Selkirk upended them, 40-0, in Northeast League 1B North play Oct. 5.
Curlew (0-6, 0-5 league) plays at Wellpinit (5-1. 3-1) at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 in league action.
