CHELAN - Three people died Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 23, in a two-vehicle crash just north of town on U.S. Highway 97A.
Driver Angelica M. Medina Aguilar, 38, and passenger Guadalupe Medina Aguilar, 4, both of Chelan, died at the scene, the Washington State Patrol said.
The third victim's identity has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. The patrol did not say in which vehicle that person was riding.
The driver of the second vehicle, Nicole K. Province, 39, Chelan, was injured and taken to Lake Chelan Community Hospital, Chelan.
Medina Aguilar was northbound at 3:52 p.m. when her car crossed the centerline and collided with Province's southbound car, the patrol said.
Medina Aguilar and the child were not wearing seatbelts, but Province was. The patrol did not say if the other deceased person was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash's cause is under investigation. The patrol said it's unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
Both vehicles were destroyed.
